ReplyDeleteWow. New Zealand! I'd like to know that story (how the family went from here to there). I was told that Lucinda was a Native American (possibly Cherokee) and I found one reference to a Lucinda Lamkin on a Cherokee roll, but if it is my ancestor or not, I'm not sure. Lucinda Lamkin married Thomas McWilliams on Nov 12, 1829 in Camden, Wilcox City, Alabama (so she definately could have been Cherokee). I am descended from their daughter Mary Frances McWilliams, though they also had William H., Dabney P, Catherine, Henry C., Clarissa Jane, Laura, Zackary, Mary Melissa, and Thomas. Lucinda was born about 1814. That's all I know about her. Hope this helps.
