Joseph Rhine and Arinda Smith (85 and 86)

Joseph Washington Rhine was born about 1870-1880 in Missouri.  He led a pioneer life-style of settling, then moving on, thereby helping to to take what was left of the old west.

Joseph met and married Arinda Smith who had been born in Kansas City, Kansas.  Their eldest son was Joseph Washington , then Ferman Washtington, and they had two other sons: Elbert and one other son who drowned while the boys were playing in the bay outside of Seattle sometime before 1912.  This son's name is unknown at this time. Joseph eventually became an engineer for the Dole Packing House in Wichita, Kansas.  Little is known of Arinda Smith. (2 Stars.  All information came from Shirley Stimach, and needs to be confirmed.  I think the family is related to George Washington Rhine also from Kansas, but haven't been able to prove it).
L to R:  Joseph, Ferman, Arinda, John (Joseph's brother), and Joseph Jr.

  1. Uncle Eddie, in a later post (Nov 19, 2018 "The Rhine Family"), you had the names Joseph Warren (not Washington) Rhine and Arinda Flesher (not Smith). Do you know which names are accurate? Thank you!
